From Rest to Renewal: Why We’ve Moved Our Family & Business South
In 2023, we made a big decision — to purchase a property in the Southwest.
It wasn’t impulsive. The idea had been sitting with us for a while. We’d felt the pull for a sea change for years — and when the right opportunity came up, we trusted our instincts and took the step.
But buying the property didn’t mean we rushed straight into change.
Instead, we took a break. We stepped away from the day-to-day and traveled. That time gave us perspective. It allowed us to ask some honest questions — about our family, about our business, and about the kind of life we want to build in the years ahead.
The pause was grounding.
Geraldton and the Midwest has been such an important place for us. It’s where we built our reputation, where we grew as builders and as people. Where we built multiple award winning homes. We learned resilience there. We built strong relationships. We refined the way we work. It shaped us in ways we’ll always be grateful for.
But the Southwest kept calling.
Buying the property was the first step.
The break gave us space to reflect.
And choosing to move south felt like a decision made with calm confidence, not urgency.
We’re a surfing, snorkeling, fishing, beach-loving family. The ocean has always been part of how we reset and reconnect — and living in Geraldton gave us that in abundance. What drew us further south wasn’t simply the coastline (with a little less wind in our hair than we’ve grown used to), but the diversity here. Within minutes you can move from surf breaks to wineries, from bush trails to vibrant town centres, from quiet beaches to farmers markets. There’s a richness to the Southwest — a blend of creativity, opportunity and lifestyle — all layered closely together.
That diversity is inspiring. It influences how people want to live here. Homes feel more connected to landscape. Outdoor spaces matter. Natural light, texture, flow and flexibility become priorities. There’s a quiet confidence in the way people build in the Southwest — thoughtful rather than showy, intentional rather than rushed — and that resonates deeply with how we approach our work.
Being part of a region that values design, community and lifestyle in equal measure feels energising. It challenges us in the best way — to build homes that sit comfortably in their surroundings and reflect the people who live in them.
If you’re thinking about building in the Southwest — whether you’re still exploring ideas or already have plans ready to go — we’d love to connect. Every home begins with a conversation, and we’re always happy to sit down, share thoughts and see if we’re the right fit for your next chapter.
